A Future for All Women and Girls

On 8th March 2025, we come together to celebrate International Women’s Day under the inspiring theme: “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” This is a rallying call—a reminder that a fairer, more equal world is possible when we champion the rights, voices, and ambitions of women and girls everywhere.
At Anah Project, we have spent years supporting some of the most vulnerable women in society—those escaping abuse, exploitation, and crisis. We know firsthand that empowerment transforms lives. When women are given the tools, support, and freedom to thrive, they not only change their own futures but also uplift entire communities.
A Day Rooted in History
International Women’s Day is more than just a date on the calendar—it is a movement that has been over a century in the making. First observed in 1909, it emerged from the struggles of working-class women fighting for better conditions, fair pay, and the right to vote. The movement gained momentum, and by 1911, women across Europe were marching for change.
Over the decades, the day has evolved into a global celebration of women’s achievements and an urgent call to accelerate progress. From securing voting rights to advocating for workplace equality, every milestone has been driven by the courage and determination of those who refused to accept injustice.
Yet, as we mark International Women’s Day 2025, we recognise that the fight is far from over. Gender-based violence, economic inequality, and barriers to education still hold many women and girls back. That’s why this year’s theme is so important—because real change comes when we work together to build a world that is truly inclusive and equal for all.

Why This Year Matters More Than Ever
The year 2025 marks a defining moment in the fight for gender equality. It is the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the most ambitious global blueprint for women’s rights ever created. Over the past three decades, we have seen incredible progress—more women in leadership, stronger legal protections, and a shift in attitudes towards gender equality.
Yet, challenges remain. Too many women and girls still face discrimination, violence, and barriers that prevent them from reaching their full potential. At Anah Project, we see these struggles every day. But we also see extraordinary strength, resilience, and determination in the women we support—women who refuse to be defined by their past and instead embrace a future full of possibility.

Empowering the Next Generation
This year’s theme highlights a crucial truth: young women and adolescent girls are at the heart of lasting change. When they are given equal opportunities, access to education, and the confidence to lead, they break cycles of inequality and build a brighter future for all.
That’s why at Anah Project, we work not only to support women in crisis but also to inspire, educate, and equip young women with the tools to shape their own futures. Whether it’s through providing safe spaces, advocacy, or skills development, we are committed to ensuring that no woman or girl is left behind.
A Future Where Every Woman Thrives
At Anah Project, we believe in a world where every woman and girl—regardless of her background, circumstances, or challenges—has the power to live freely, safely, and with dignity.
This International Women’s Day, let’s reaffirm our commitment to that vision. Let’s champion rights, equality, and empowerment for all. Because when women thrive, society thrives.

Together, we can shape a future where no one is left behind
